– GCYAA Coach Requirements:
1) Background Check link: https://gcyaa.quickapp.pro/ (this checks for a history of abuse or violence, along with concerns with children in the past). With updates to our bylaws passed in Feb’23, this is a mandated requirement for all Head Coaches & Assistant Coaches in the GCYAA.
2) Concussion Certificate link: https://www.cdc.gov/headsup/youthsports/training/index.html Completion of this is required every 2yrs to ensure you’re up to date and able to easily identify these when or if they occur at practices and games.
3) GCYAA Membership: This is required and gives you the opportunity to participate in GCYAA Membership meetings held on the monthly basis, giving you a voice in how the program is run and may be improved.

Lots of exciting improvements in store for this upcoming 2023-24 Basketball season! This week we will post updates to include;
● Evaluations times per Division for Thurs. 11/9 & Fri. 11/10 with parent meeting for the upcoming season
● (COACHES ONLY – AS OF FRI., 11/10/23) Drafts will take place Mon., 11/13 or Tues., 11/14 depending on the division (reach out to your Director for more information)
● Our first GCYAA Basketball Newsletter with a number of Administration updates from our new Head Co-Commissioners Chad Calvin & Nanette Stanley
● Coaches will be contacted by Sunday for preparation and planning purposes
● And with 1 more registration date, the number of spots open per division to date!

WEDS., 7/26/2023 — GCYAA Coaches and Volunteers have put together a 2023 *FREE* Summer Basketball Clinic schedule for all 3 divisions; 3rd/4th grades, 5th/6th grades and 7th/8th grades!
WEDS., 7/26/2023 — Basketball clinics at the Garden City Ice Arena have been cancelled this evening due to expected inclement weather advisory for this evening. We want to be sure families safely arrive to and from destinations without issue or concern. Our 5th/6th grade players are more than welcome to join us Fri., 7/28 instead for the 7th/8th grade clinics at the same location and time (due to this schedule change).
We apologize for the inconvenience experienced and look forward to seeing everyone who can make it this Friday instead! Thank you all for your patience and understanding!

GCYAA basketball will be back this year for BOYS & GIRLS in grades 3-8!! Registration for the 2022/2023 season will begin in September. Evaluations will be scheduled for early November, practices will begin in mid-November and games will run January through early March. The program is open to all boys and girls in Garden City and the surrounding cities!
